J. L. Carr, from A Month in the Country
-Sylvia Plath, from a letter to Aurelia Plath written c. August 1951
I only ever want the simple and small things. A bowl of fruit. To exist comfortably. To be accepted. To be loved. To eat nice food. To laugh as much as I can.
I just want to disappear into this universe. Be the sun and the sand,ย the wind and the water moving aimlessly. I want to be the danceย between the earth, the sky and the waves. Be the energy that holdsย everything in its place. And then I just want to appear as a tiny human being and open my eyes and open my heart to see myself.
Listen. I wish I could tell you it gets better. But, it doesnโt get better. You get better.
Joan Rivers
